Content Soup diary, July ’23

We had another mega month for results in July. Trumpet-blowing to follow...

✍ We wrote a 20-page annual report for Northern Gas Networks, all about their super impressive progress in innovation and the race to net zero by 2050. In previous years, the report has been too long and convoluted (their words), so they chose us to cut through and create a new report that was to the point, interesting and easy to read. We worked closely with the innovation team and comms teams to make sense of often complex information, in record time and with minimal amends.

The client said: “You guys absolutely bossed this content. I think this might be a company first!”

📽 We worked with our office buddies Manto to create a really powerful five-minute video for Outwood Grange Academies Trust. The video was shown at their end-of-year staff conference, all about celebrating success and what makes the Trust unique. We can confirm there were tears. Job done! We also produced several social media shorts from the main video which the digital marketing manager was delighted with.

The client said: “Thanks again for all your help with the video - we're so thrilled with it!”

🎓 July signals graduation for many of our university clients, and a busy month for us in terms of social media community management. Leeds Law School at Leeds Beckett University hit record numbers on both follower growth and engagement across ALL channels, with some of the highest views ever on this month’s blog posts about prize winners and studying abroad. Major milestones achieved!

The client said: “Well done. We have come a long way together. Thank you for everything you do for us.” It’s our pleasure.

🏠 For Northern Estate Agencies Group, we placed over 30 hot property features in target press across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester, as well as thoughtful opinion pieces on the cooling housing market and predictions on the impact of interest rate rises and Michael Gove’s housing reform plans. Mark Manning spoke about the Yorkshire housing market on ITV Calendar, as well as being quoted as an expert in nationals like The Independent, Mail and Yahoo.

The client said: “Just catching up on emails after holiday and wanted to say it’s been so great to see all the features over the last couple of weeks, there’s been a real variety of stories, opinion pieces and properties. Great work and we really appreciate your hard work in achieving this level of exposure for us!”

🚸 For Rotherham Council, we continued to expertly shape their communications approach around Children’s Capital of Culture 2025. We achieved page lead features on this year’s cohort of trainees, who are working in some of Rotherham’s most renowned cultural organisations to gain life-changing work experience, as well as telling the success story of a trainee who’s gone on to form his own freelance creative business. We worked on an agenda-setting piece with the Yorkshire Post, which highlighted some of the incredible young change makers in Rotherham making this whole thing happen, while two of Rotherham’s newly elected ‘Mini Mayors’ were interviewed on BBC Look North and Calendar for Yorkshire Day. Ey Up!

The client said: “Awesome work as always Content Soup!”

In new business world, we won an exciting new client in the personal finance space – more on that soon – secured three meetings with potential new clients, and received three more new business enquiries off the back of recommendations.

August is about a few well-earned holidays and some time with our kids, while onboarding new clients and continuing to KILL IT on the results front.

See you next month 👋
